ORIENT - A woman from Aroostook County was taken to the hospital after her car was hit by a logging truck Wednesday morning.

Susan Hanscom, 63, of Orient was attempting to turn onto U.S. Route 1 but failed to yield the right of way, pulling out in front of a logging truck, according to state police.

The driver of the truck tried to stop but ended up colliding with Hanscom's vehicle, spinning it 180 degrees and sending it into a ditch.

The truck driver was not injured.

Local fire responders had to use the Jaws of Life to remove Hanscom from her wrecked vehicle.

Police said she was taken to Houlton Regional but not life-threatening injuries.
