Police respond to possible shots fired Featured

DIXMONT - Police responded to multiple locations in Dixmont after reports of shots fired.

Officials said one woman was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a fight at a home on Moosehead Trail Highway.

According to the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office, they responded to the home shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday evening after they got a call about gunshots.

Broken glass from a shattered door littered the side entrance to that home.

Staff Sgt. William Sheehan, with the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office, said the suspect left the scene and was found at a residence further up the road.

He said the suspect did not live at the home where the fight took place, and was acquaintances with the woman who was hurt.

"There's no danger to the public," said Staff Sgt. Sheehan. "We've located all the parties involved in this...we're investigating and we're conducting a pile of interviews and we're going to put the pieces together."

Officials could not confirm if the woman's injury was, in fact, from a gun shot.

They said there have been no arrests made at this time.

The Penobscot County Sheriff's Office is expected to release more details on Wednesday.
