BANGOR - A Garland man will spend a year and a half in prison for failing to register as a sex offender.

According to federal court records, 66-year-old Roger Picard was convicted of raping a child in Massachusetts in 1983.

As a result, he is required to register as a sex offender each time he moves to another state.

After moving from Hawaii to Maine, Picard failed to follow that procedure and was arrested in March of this year.

He plead guilty to the charge back in May.
