HAMPDEN – Three teenagers were taken to the hospital after a car crash in Hampden late Monday night.
Police got a call shortly before 11 p.m. about a single car crash on Canaan Road, according to Hampden Police Sgt. Dan Stewart. The vehicle went off the road and into a ditch.
Sgt. Stewart said one of the teens was in serious condition. The other two teenagers had minor injuries. All three were taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center and their families were notified.
Authorities weren’t initially sure what caused the driver to veer off the road.
“I can’t see any skid marks. It doesn’t appear at this point that brakes were ever applied,” Stewart said. “When the reconstruction team gets here they’re going to help us figure out what happened.”
An accident reconstruction and mapping team were called to the scene to aid in determining a cause of the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
