STATEWIDE – Hurricane Florence will have an impact on the blood supply, according to the American Red Cross.
Although the storm is not expected to reach New England, officials say donor centers are closing and blood drives are being canceled in the Carolinas.
The Red Cross says it will impact their ability to get blood to hospitals and patients over the next two weeks and are urging Mainers to donate.
The blood donor center on Hammond Street in Bangor is open on Saturday and will be open Tuesday through Thursday and on Saturday of next week.
Go to redcross.org or and enter your ZIP code to find a blood drive near you.
