BANGOR – Susan Farley, a longtime fixture in the region’s news scene, has been promoted to the position of news director for WVII ABC 7 and Fox 22.
“Susan is an accomplished professional and a genuine pleasure to work with,” General Manager Michael Palmer said.
“I look forward to seeing her vision for the newsroom brought to fruition,” he said.
Farley said she is looking forward continuing to serve viewers in her new role.
“I have been working with the people in eastern Maine in one capacity or another all my life,” she said.
“Much of that time I have been telling their stories and reporting the news that matters to them,” she said. “I am excited to be carrying on that tradition and to have this opportunity to head up such a strong team.”
Farley joined the Bangor news team as assistant news director in February of 2016.
Her career in news began in 1987, when she held the position of news director at WDEA/WWMJ radio stations.
In 1990 she became the assignment editor at WABI-TV for six years, leaving that station to run her own successful business while continuing to assist WABI in coverage of elections and other special events.
Farley returned to WABI full-time in 2003 to serve as the station’s Coastal Bureau chief for the next six years.
She also previously served as the executive director of the Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce and as family assistance advocate for the Washington Hancock Community Agency.
