UPDATE: Officials identify man killed in Lagrange rollover accident

LAGRANGE - A Milo man was pronounced dead after crashing his car in Lagrange Wednesday night.

Just after 11:00 p.m. authorities were called to a single vehicle accident near the intersection of Route 16 (Bennoch Road) and Country Lane.

According to Penobscot County Sheriff's Deputies, it appears the vehicle was traveling north when it left the road and then flipped forward onto its hood.

Authorities believe the driver, who was alone was thrown from the SUV, which then landed on top of him.

20-year-old Zackary Coffey of Milo was pronounced dead at the scene.

"There was a vehicle behind this vehicle that, we've interviewed that operator, and we're not sure why the SUV left the roadway," said Lt. James Ellis of the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office. "You know, the road surface is bare and dry, but it was foggy, it's late, so we're not sure which factors played a part."

Nobody else was injured in the accident, which remains under investigation.
