Bangor area transportation group seeking input for regional plan

Written by

BANGOR - An organization in the Bangor area is working to make transportation safer for both bicyclists and pedestrians.

The Bangor Area Comprehensive Transportation System, also known as BACTS, focuses on planning and improving transportation.

BACTS covers several communities, including Brewer, Orono and Indian Island, as well as parts of Hermon, Orrington and Bradley.

The group is looking to improve areas like sidewalks, bike paths and crossing signals.

On Tuesday of next week, BACTS will host a public meeting so people can learn more about the project and offer input on ways to fix any problems they see on the roads.

"It anybody has any suggestions, absolutely offer suggestions," said Connie Reed, a transportation planner for BACTS. "At the very least, come in. If there's areas that they know of concern or gaps, come in and mention those so those can be on the radar and identified during the process."

The meeting at the Cross Insurance Center will begin at 4 p.m. with an open house.

The meeting also can bee seen online.

will You can also watch the meeting online. For more information on the project, go to www.BACTSMPO.org.
