Fliers are up around town about the this year's Trails End Festival, which kicks off Friday and winds down on Sunday.
The event is a celebration of the end of the summer season with live music, food, children's games, vendors and more.
More importantly, the festival is a celebration of the many trails that lead to Millinocket year round.
Some may be familiar with the section of the Appalachian Trail that runs through the area but officials said the Katahdin area has much more.
"We've got snowmobile trails and ATV trails and hiking trails and biking trails, so it was kind of merged into all trails lead to Millinocket," Jamie Brundrett of the Katahdin Area Chamber of Commerce said.
Officials also said travel and tourism generated by the trails are helping the town get along during redevelopment.
