HANCOCK - A Cherryfield woman is facing a number of drug charges after State Police say she brought heroin into jail.

On Thursday night, State Police pulled over a vehicle on Route 182 in Hancock with three people inside, including 51-year-old Karen Manning.

Hancock County Sheriff's Deputies were called to assist at the scene, where a police dog alerted authorities that Manning may be carrying illegal drugs.

Authorities then seized about twelve grams of crack cocaine and more than eight grams of suspected heroin, as well as drug paraphernalia.

Manning was arrested for trafficking in both crack cocaine and heroin.

Manning will now face additional charges, after authorities say they found additional heroin on her after she was transported to the Hancock County Jail.
