Kevin on the Roof hits $40K fundraising goal

Written by

SACO - On the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, postal worker Kevin Fitzpatrick climbed up on to the roof of Patriot Subaru, waiting for the money to pour in.

One week and an hour or so later, Fitzpatrick came down off the roof last Sunday after supporters came through with enough money for the nonprofit group STRIVE to meet his $40,000 fundraising goal.

Fitzpatrick said he is very thankful for all the donations -- and is still wondering about one delivered by drone.

"To this moment we still don't know who was behind it," he said. "The drone dropped this right here with money attached to a clip and just like that it was gone, so whoever was operating it was very good at what they do."

There was some rain, a bit of lightning and some very warm days and nights but Fitzpatrick's annual one-man fundraiser brought in a little more than $40,000.

The rooftop effort raised money for STRIVE, a group that helps teens and young adults with developmental disabilities.

Fitzpatrick started the fundraiser six years ago, increasing his fundraising goal, along with his time spent on a roof, to benefit STRIVE.
