Maine Apple Sunday marked at Levant orchard Featured

LEVANT - It was a perfect day Sunday to celebrate Maine Apple Sunday.

It's a time when orchards across the state open up their doors and let people come to pick fresh apples, enjoy the outdoors and harvest their own food.

Treworgy Family Orchards in Levant Maine has been around since 1983 and they have a little bit of everything for families to enjoy like corn mazes, apple picking, pumpkins, hayrides and horse farm tours.

"We're open all fall regardless so Maine Apple Sunday is just kind of a bonus for us to highlight what we already offer," Treworgy CEO Jonathan Kenerson said.

"I mean we got specialty ice cream today we're doing a Maine Apple Sunday sundae with some of our own apples on top of vanilla Gifford's ice cream, which is just fantastic," he said.

He also said their corn maze is the oldest running in the state of Maine.

They design it themselves and they are in a contest of the Top 10 best corn mazes in the country and guess what? They are currently ranked No. 1 in USA Today.

You can vote here for the contest.

It's going on all through September and he said hopefully at the beginning of October they'll be top  No. number one in the country.
