BREWER – Over the past year, Brewer’s economic development team has made big strides towards revitalizing the city. The progress has been attracting businesses and people to the area.
“I think part of what started it all was the river walk,” said Brewer Economic Development Specialist Renee Doble. “The idea years ago was to create a place that people would want to come to, and so if you get the people there, then the businesses want to be there.”
Construction continues on the river walk, but the portions that are complete prove to be a great place for people to come and enjoy the city.
“For a long time I think Brewer was somewhat ignored,” said Mason’s Brewing Company Owner Chris Morley.
Thanks to the revitalization efforts, businesses are now making Brewer their home.
“I think we are maybe a cornerstone for future development throughout the waterfront in the coming years,” said Morley.
Five new businesses opened in Brewer this summer, with three more expected to open in the near future.
