Man arrested after leading police on chase Featured

BLUE HILL - A Camden man who allegedly was facing severe medical issues fled from police several times Saturday morning before they were able to stop his vehicle by shooting its tires.

The Waldo County Sheriff's Office began searching for James Thomas, 71, after a family member reported that Thomas had made irrational and threatening comments before driving away.

After locating Thomas' car in Northport, police tried to stop him but Thomas refused to stop and continued north on Route 1 to Belfast, the sheriff's office said.

After chasing Thomas throughout several towns and multiple attempts to stop him, a Searsport officer was able to fire his weapon at Thomas' car's tires and remove him from the car.

Police said Thomas was summoned for reckless conduct and eluding a police officer.
