Backpacks, pencils, binders, book covers and any other type of school supplies are needed.
The donations will go to school-aged children in the Washington and Hancock county areas.
"Last year we did 154 backpacks, which is really good," said Sharrie Curtis, organizer of the backpack drive.
"The looks on their faces when you give them their backpacks is really, you know ... And some of them even have little tears," she said.
Donations can be dropped off at Downeast Community Partners' Ellsworth location through the first week of September.
