Credit union warns of "fake money" in the Bangor area

Written by

BANGOR - Penobscot County Federal Credit Union is warning folks to take caution with their cash after receiving reports of fake money being circulated in the Bangor area.

In a post on its Facebook, the credit union posted a photo of a $20 bill that looks legitimate.

However, the post explains it's actually motion picture replica money.

The credit union points out the word "replica" printed on the bill, as well as tiny banners which read "this is a replica."

Similar bills can be found across the country, all bearing the same serial number.

For more information, visit the credit union's Facebook page.
