Canadian family members hurt in Newport crash

NEWPORT - Two members of a Canadian family were injured in a crash on Interstate 95 in Newport Monday afternoon.

A couple and their adult daughter were traveling north on I-95 when the father apparently fell asleep at the wheel.


The vehicle ended up drifting toward the median, where it struck a guard rail and rolled over.


Two family members were rushed to the hospital with injuries that were not considered life threatening. The third person did not require treatment.


The family is from Manitoba, Canada.


One lane of the interstate was closed for about an hour while emergency crews dealt with the accident scene.
