BREWER - One man is in the hospital after crashing his car while fleeing from the police.

Police said it happened around 8:30 Saturday night.

Officials said the Bangor Police Department was looking for an individual who they had charges to place them into custody for.

Bangor police said they reached out to the Brewer Police Department for help in searching for this individual, whose name is not being released at this point.

Police said after trying to locate the individual on his cell phone one officer said he was headed out north by Main Street when he saw the vehicle they were looking for headed inbound.

Officer Feero of the Brewer Police Department said after following the car the driver started to drive erratically going into opposite lanes.

He then crashed into some trees on Harlow Street coming to a stop.

Officer Nelson Feero of the Brewer Police Department said, "He's going to Eastern Maine to be evaluated for some medical issues some mental health issues, and then we'll have some charges, quite a few charges that he needs to answer to on both Brewer and Bangor PD side."

Police said no one else was injured in the crash.

They will have more information once it becomes available.
