It has taken a financial and emotional toll on the family, and now the Enfield community is coming together to help fight for this little boy's life.
An adventurous little boy who loves the outdoors is fighting for his life with a rare brain tumor. Seven-year-old Chandler Grey was diagnosed a few weeks ago and recently had brain surgery.
His mother Kristin said there are only four known cases other than his that have been documented, "Two days ago he was recovering from a port implanted in his chest cavity here for his medicine. We will be headed down to Boston next week for some treatments and some consultations."
She said he'll have thirty treatments of radiation and then will have to undergo intensive chemotherapy. This, as anyone could imagine, is taking a toll on the family not only emotionally but financially.
"We're doing the very best that we can, but it's not easy and it's not going to get any easier," said Grey.
His mother and big sister will be going back and forth to Boston for his treatments, but unfortunately, his father has to work.
"So he will travel back and forth as much as he can," said Grey.
One woman who owns Ultimate Fundraising heard the Grey's story on Facebook and wanted to help out in any way she could.
"When we were talking I came up with the idea with that the first day of school coming up wouldn't it be really neat if we could raffle off a limo ride to school," said Deborah Chretien.
This kind gesture has taken some weight off of Kristin's shoulders, and she said she counld't be more thankful for Deborah.
"She's been a god sent for us and I'm just extremely grateful that she reached out to us and offered to help us."
There will be an upcoming benefit for Chandler at the end of August at Tim Horton's to find out more click here.
