STATEWIDE - State officials have issued an emergency order to stop the transport of ash trees in Maine.

They are concerned about the spread of emerald ash borers, a destructive insect that has been found in Aroostook County.

The pests have already devastated forests in other states and Maine officials are trying to prevent the same destruction here.

The emergency order stops the transportation of any ash products or untreated firewood from the infested towns, which include Frenchville, Grand Isle and Madawaska.
