State fire investigators have charged 36 year old Joseph Tilly with arson and criminal use of explosives.
Officials say the first explosion happened in January when Tilly was mixing chemicals in his home on Clark Road.
The blast set fire to the home he shared with his father.
They were called back to the home in June for a fire that started outside the home following another explosion.
Fire marshals have been investigating Tilly since the January blast and after hearing he was advertising explosives for sale on the internet.
He's being held at the Kennebec County Jail.
