Emera Maine works to restore hundreds without power

Written by

PENOBSCOT COUNTY - There were more than six hundred customers without power on Thursday evening, according to Emera Maine representatives.

Most of those power outages were in the Kenduskeag area, where they said there were at least seven utility poles down.

Judy Long, a spokeswoman for Emera Maine, said they're not sure if all the outages were a direct cause of the storm.

Other outages were in Glenburn, Orono, and Bangor.

It's a good reminder that if you see a downed line to call emergency services and Emera Maine.

"Any time you see a line down, it is not worth going near it. You should move directly away," said Judy Long. "Always assume that a line like that is live, and our first priority in a storm like this is to make sure that we take care of those downed lines first."

All service was expected to be restored by 10:00 p.m. Thursday night.

Long said when experiencing a power outage, Emera Maine customers can check Emera's live outage restoration map on their website.
