Friendship Cottage celebrates 10th year

Written by

BLUE HILL - A decade ago, the Friendship Cottage opened on the Ellsworth Road in blue hill offering day-long care for adults in Hancock County.

The program is run by Downeast Community Partners, who hosted a birthday celebration on Thursday and expected to see more than one hundred supporters.

"It's a really good alternative to nursing home placement or residential care placement for people," said Anne Ossanna, Friendship Cottage program site manager. "A lot of times our clients are parents of adult children who are still working so it's a safe place for them to come during the day."

Breakfast and lunch are offered to residents, who also have access to several social programs.
