Close call for pilot whose plane lost landing gear at Portland jetport

PORTLAND - Two people are okay following a scary landing Friday at the Portland International Jetport.

A twin engine plane registered to a company in Waterville made the belly landing around 10:30 a.m. Both of the people on board escaped without any injuries.

The runways were closed for about two hours while crews dealt with the wreckage.

There is still no word on why the plane had to land without its landing gear.

The plane is owned by Air New England LLC of Waterville, which offers charter service throughout New England.
