Authorities said Ethyn Boutte, 18, was drunk when he crashed a car on May 31 in the town of Weld, a crash that killed Griffyn Smith,19, and injured a 17-year-old passenger.
Boutte and another passenger were injured.
Maine State Police troopers said the vehicle was traveling 71 miles an hour at the time of the crash. The speed limit in that area is 35 miles per hour.
Boutte was arrested Monday and charged with aggravated operating under the influence of alcohol resulting in death. He has since been released on bail. .
