Cornerstone Barber Shop at 210 Exchange Street is a staple in downtown.
"We always have the quality behind the name ... To make sure every gentleman that walks out is happy with his haircut," said Chelsie Chapman, one of the barbers at the new location.
Co-owner Gene Spearrin has been a barber for more than 50 years.
"At that time, we had what we call a master barber license. Which we could do anything but also specialize in men's haircuts," said Spearrin.
He took over the downtown shop about 30 years ago and has opened up a new location nestled in the plaza at Third and Union streets.
"The community needs something like this and I just enjoy creating it," Spearrin said.
He said that having a second location will help alleviate the demand from the downtown area.
"I call it the uptown shop. It's geared to all the ages," Spearrin said.
He said the atmosphere of the new place blends some of the older traditions with a few of the newer trends
"Waxing eyebrows for men is unheard of in a traditional barbershop but in this shop, we're going to do this on a regular basis because there's a need in the community," Spearrin said.
He said they have added something that doesn't currently exist in the area.
"We're the first shaving parlor in the area specializing in face shaving," said Spearrin.
A place where men can unwind, relax and enjoy themselves.
"We are here to pamper the guys. To let the guys know that they have a place to," Chapman said.
The store had a soft opening in late June to celebrate the expansion.
They said they'll have coupons available for a limited time at the shop and at other locations. Click here for more information.
