AUGUSTA / WASHINGTON, D.C. - Both Senator Susan Collins and Governor Paul LePage reacted to Pres. Trump's SCOTUS pick Monday night.

Senator Susan Collins released a statement on Judge Brett Kavanaugh's nomination to the Supreme Court.

The republican senator said "Judge Kavanaugh has impressive credentials and extensive experience."

She also noted she would go through a careful vetting procedure for President Trump's nominee, as she has done in the past.

Collins went on to say she looks forward to his public hearing, as well as "questioning him in a meeting in my office."

Governor Paul LePage is joining people across the county in reacting to Trump's pick.

Lepage tweeted shortly after the President announced he would be choosing Judge Kavanaugh to replace Justice Anthony Kennedy.

In the social media post, LePage called the appointment "thoughtful" saying: "It's critical our jurists are of the highest character."

LePage also wrote that he looks forward to Judge Kavanaugh's confirmation.
