CHEBEAGUE ISLAND - A boat caught fire in the water off Chebeague Island Saturday night, eventually sinking.

 

 The coast guard said they received the call around 8:20 p.m. Saturday. Portland and Falmouth fire also responded.

 

One person was on board at the time, according to coast guard officials. The person was rescued and taken to Maine medical center with second-degree burns.

 

According to officials, a good Samaritan boaters nearby assisted in the rescue.

 

The coast guard has yet to release the name of the person on the ship or the good Samaritan, who helped bring the person to Littlejohn island where a rescue crew provided medical treatment.
