Fatal crash in Cross Lake after man falls asleep at wheel

CROSS LAKE -  A Fort Kent man has died after he fell asleep at the wheel.

It happened Saturday afternoon on route 161 in Cross Lake.

Police said 38-year-old Mark Paradis was driving a Chevrolet pickup truck that had left the road and hit some trees causing power lines to fall down which led to a power outage in the Cross Lake area.

Police said Paradis was not wearing a seatbelt.

Emera Maine responded to the scene and restored power after a brief outage.

Investigation is still ongoing.
