Shots fired in Lewiston early Saturday morning Featured

LEWISTON - A scary morning in Lewiston after gunshots were reportedly heard on Saturday.

Police are currently searching for the victim and scouring the scene for evidence.

Around 6 AM Saturday morning police said they responded to the area of 135 1/2 Bartlett street and they can confirm that bullets have been fired at that location.

Lieutenant David St. Pierre of the Lewiston police department said, "And concerning to us is that we have located some blood evidence. We're not sure at this time if there's a victim or not we have not located any victim or have any indication that there is a victim we're still not even sure if somebody may have been shot or not perhaps those injuries may have occurred as a result of an altercation whether physical or not we don't know if anybody's been shot, but that's of concern to us right now along with obviously the concern that shots have been fired in that area."

He said detectives and members from the violent crime task force as well as other agencies are assisting them in this investigation, "We're trying to determine who shot and why if anybody has been shot. There' still a lot we have to gain from the information that we're getting as we go."

He said it's a concerning event, but appears to be an isolated incident rather than just a random incident at this point.
