WASHINGTON, D.C. - Senator Susan Collins says that EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt's resignation was "long overdue."

In a statement released Thursday, the Republican Senator said she originally voted against his nomination because "he did not support the EPA's mission."

Collins went on to say "his ethical failings are too numerous to recount, and I am glad that he is finally stepping down."

Scott Pruitt resigned Thursday from his post as Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency amidst numerous scandals.

Senator Collins was the only Senate Republican to vote against Pruitt’s nomination in February 2017.
