Maine delegation takes aim at China's lobster tarriffs

Written by

STATEWIDE - All four members of Maine' delegation to Washington have released a joint statement in response to China's retaliatory tariffs on American lobster.

Senators Susan Collins and Angus King and Representatives Chellie Pingree and Bruce Poliquin said in their statement that Maine's lobster is an irreplaceable piece of our state's economy that supports thousands of jobs and entire coastal communities.

Two weeks ago the Maine delegation heard directly from the state's lobster industry about the economic hardship a trade war with China would cause them.

"We will be outlining our concerns with the [U.S. Trade Representative] about how these new tariffs will jeopardize this industry," they wrote.
