Travis Mills Foundation given custom pontoon boat

ROME (WGME) - Injured veterans and their families will be able to enjoy a new ride this summer, thanks to a donation to the Travis Mills Foundation.

A brand new pontoon boat was unveiled Wednesday at the foundation's lakeside retreat in Rome.

The boat was custom made by Avalon Pontoon Boats of Michigan, where Travis Mills is from. The quadruple amputee said he hopes it will help wounded veterans and their families this summer.

"We have the waterfront for kayaks and canoes but this is something the whole family can enjoy," Mills said. "It's not just husband and wife with child in canoe or on paddle board, which is still great, but this is the whole family. Four, six, whatever, jump on the boat."

The Travis Mills Foundation expects to host 128 veteran families at the retreat this summer.
