Aubrey Armstrong, 29, was found guilty Wednesday of felony murder following his trial in Augusta.
Prosecutors say Armstrong was one of several people responsible for the 2015 beating death of 31-year-old Joseph Marceau.
A co-defendant testified they planned to rob Marceau of heroin he was trying to sell, but it turned into a beating that took his life.
The defense claimed someone else was responsible and authorities couldn't find DNA from Armstrong to prove he was in the apartment.
According to the Morning Sentinel, it was up to a judge to decide the verdict in the non-jury trial. Armstrong was found not guilty of one murder charge but convicted of felony murder and robbery.
