Fairfield voters OK $5.2 million budget during marathon meeting

Written by

FAIRFIELD - It took more than four hours but residents in the end approved a $5.2 mllion municipal budget for the coming fiscal year during their annual meeting on Monday night.

The budget reflects a decrease of more than $100,000 from this year's budget. Local officials attributed the bulk of the reduction to a change in waste management.

The sale of a town-owned property provided the town $253,000 to distribute among Fairfield's police, fire and public works departments. That money will replenish capitol reserve accounts that are underfunded.

A few dozen residents attended the meeting to approve the 40 items items on the warrant.
