Walk-for-Wishes Thursday on Bangor waterfront

Written by

BANGOR - Just about every five days in Maine, a child with a critical illness is granted a dream wish through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

To raise money to grant these wishes, Make-A-Wish supporters are hosting four Walk-For-Wishes this Thursday in Bangor, Auburn, Portland and Rockland.

“I'm a pediatrician here in Bangor and I've had several patients receive wishes and it definitely gives them strength, hope and joy,” said Colette Sabbagh, a Make-A-Wish board member.

Other benefits of the program include stress relief for the child and their families, and getting a wish granted often makes the child feel normal and special, she said.

Folks in Bangor who want to get involved can just show up at the Bangor waterfront at 5 p.m. Thursday to register. The walk begins at 6 p.m.

Folks can also check out the website for more information.

Organizers say people don't have to donate to walk and they don't have to walk to donate.
