SKOWHEGAN – The girlfriend of the man charged in the shooting death of a Maine law enforcement officer last month appeared in court on Wednesday.
Corporal Eugene Cole of the Somerset County Sheriff’s office was shot to death on April 25. John Williams, who was with Kristina Pomerleau when she was arrested for cocaine possession a few days prior, has been charged with murder in connection with the deputy’s death.
Cole assisted with Pomerleau’s arrest on drug charges on April 22. She was indicted by the Somerset County grand jury on two felony counts of cocaine possession and furnishing. She entered not guilty pleas to both charges in court on Wednesday and the judge sealed the affidavit.
Williams and Pomerleau also were together when he crashed his vehicle on a Massachusetts highway back in March. He was arrested and charged with four gun charges and traffic violations and was scheduled to be in court in Massachusetts on the day Corporal Cole was killed.
Pomerleau was cited for having a pain killer in her possession during the Massachusetts incident but was not arrested at that time. Her next court appearance for the charges she faces in Maine is scheduled for June 27.
