The Hancock County Commissioners made it official with their vote Friday morning.
Pen Air is scheduled to stop their seasonal service on June 30th.
Last week the airport got proposals from two carriers interested in replacing it.
Airport manager Brad Maderia said he is excited about the decision. He stated, "If the department chooses Silver we'll have a great airline coming in with good connecting options and reasonable fares and a really good asset to the community."
The endorsement now goes to the U.S. Department of Transportation for a final decision. Maderia said they could have the answer in early May.
He added there is still time to have a seamless transition so another carrier takes over when Pen Air leaves on June 30th.
Cape Air will still provide it's year round service to the airport no matter what happens with the seasonal carrier.
