MARANACOOK LAKE - Some brave souls will be kicking off their St. Patrick's Day celebration tomorrow by taking an icy plunge in a lake.

Special Olympics Maine and the folks with the Maine Law Enforcement Torch Run are holding the "5th Annual Ice Out Plunge."

The ice is still thick on Maranacook Lake and that's why people were out digging snow and cutting a hole in the ice today.

Maine Game Wardens, Winthrop Police and local sheriff's deputies were among those pitching in.

There's still time for people to help raise money to support Special Olympics.

People can register tomorrow morning from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the Winthrop town beach on Maranacook Lake.

They're asking for a minimum donations of $100.
