Christopher Gagne, 26, was arrested Sunday and charged with burglary and criminal mischief.
The Somerset County Sheriff's Department said it received a report late Sunday night that there was a burglary in progress at "Wicked Lettuce" on Main Street.
After reviewing the store's surveillance tapes, deputies suspected the burglar was still in the store. While searching the basement, they found a hole leading to another basement and hiding in a corner of that basement was Christopher Gagne.
They also found backpacks that contained glass smoking pipes, bongs, jewelry and other items officials say were stolen from the business. More than $2,000 worth of property was recovered and returned to the owner.
Police said Gagne confessed to the burglary when he was questioned.
