Maine taxpayers can file their taxes to benefit veterans

STATEWIDE - Maine taxpayers can donate a portion of their tax returns to the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery Fund.

The $5 donation supports the maintenance and preservation of Maine's four veterans' cemeteries.

Last year Maine residents gave almost $30,000 to support the effort.

Hundreds of thousands of Mainers have served our nation, and the cemeteries are meant to be a final resting place for more than 25,000 veterans.

To donate, there's a box that can be checked at the bottom of Maine tax returns.
