Former Bangor teacher accused of violating privacy

BANGOR - A former Bangor special education teacher has been accused of violating the privacy of women throughout the area.

Benjamin Emmott, 30, of Winterport has been accused of secretly videotaping women, including taking shots up their skirts.

The Bangor Police Department said they received a report last month and charged Emmott on Friday with seven counts of violating privacy.

The Bangor School District said Emmott resigned last month after school officials were notified about the investigation.

Police said the investigation revealed Emmott had been engaged in the practice for the past couple of years and recorded women at various public locations around the city without their knowledge.

They said they have no evidence to suggest he recorded students or anyone under the age of 18.

The investigation is ongoing and police said Emmott will likely face additional charges.
