Grant will boost Americorps training

BANGOR - The Eastern Maine Development Corporation has received a hefty grant that will improve economic opportunities from people throughout the region.

The more than $72,000 is coming from the Corporation for National and Community Service. It will support 20 Americorps members who are working with non profits to provide job training and work enhancement skills to people who have been struggling financially. Helping people in Penobscot, Piscatiquis and Hancock Counties.

 

The Americorps members will also use the grant to tackle unemployment, disconnected youth and finding ways for people to improve their job skills.

 

Americorps helps improve the lives of millions of people around the country while also providing members with skills they'll use throughout their lifetimes.
