EMMC reduces visitors during flu outbreak Featured

BANGOR - Eastern Maine Medical Center is taking steps to prevent the spread of the flu.

Starting tomorrow, temporary precautions will be in place to reduce the risk for patients, staff and visitors. The precautions include limiting visitors to two people per patient.

Children under the age of 12 are asked not to visit and to communicate by phone until the patient is released.

They're also asking people that have flu-like symptoms to stay away. The public will also be directed to specific entrances in order to allow for screening of flu symptoms and to make sure the temporary measures are carried out.

The hospital released a statement saying they know the measures will create challenges for visitors, but the adjustments are necessary to protect the patients, staff and communities they serve.
