The Greater Bangor Association of Realtors raised $20,000 at their "Spirit of Giving" holiday event and donated the money to Partners for Peace.
Formerly known as Spruce Run, the agency provides resources and support for abused Mainers and those dealing with domestic violence.
"It's really going to allow us to help people to either stay safety in their homes by supporting them with whatever needs they have or help them move out of an abusive situation into a home or environment where they feel safe," says Amanda Cost of Partners for Peace.
Those who have survived abuse or domestic violence will tell you that a life without fear, isolation, violence and abuse for them is the American dream.
The president of the association says that is a dream local realtors can support.
