Egg riding for a good cause Featured

NEWPORT - The cold didn't stop participants from putting raw eggs in their shirts and riding snowmobiles to raise money for the pine tree camp.

Dysart's and talent from Q106.5 suited up to raise money for the pine tree camp, which is a camp for people with disabilities.

Q106.5 DJ Scott Miller said "It started 32 years ago with the idea I don't know why of eggs in the suits for every 50 dollars raised."

The ride starts at hungry hollow clubhouse in Levant and ends at the Newport armory. Participants say they couldn't be more honored to be apart of the race.

"Anytime you see a kid or adult that pine tree camp helps it's just like wow what a great cause, and that's why we're all into it. That's why Q106.5 is extremely proud to be in the egg ride" said Miller.

Camp Director Dawn Robinson said "We're raising money for camp and it's just it really helps. All the money that we raise today goes to tuition."

She says the camp means a lot to many people so anytime the community can come together to support it is great.

"This is my first time I rode so I hadn't rode before I always like helped load the snowmobiles and getting everything ready meeting everyone back here, but it was really nice being able to ride" said Robinson.

Camper Tristan Bouchord said "I like camp so much. I like all the staff there."

"The first time that I came and did it and met a couple of the kids it was like oh my goodness this is wonderful" said Miller.

He says the camp is also a great relief for the parents who are caregivers all year for them.

"it's a break for them too. So anything we can do to help pine tree camp we're in."

They are still raising money for the event. To find out how to donate click here.
