How downtown Bangor businesses are doing after water break Featured

Written by

BANGOR - Earlier this month downtown Bangor had a water break that ruined the basements of many businesses.

"I'm okay with the initial shock it was devastating." Gerald winters is the owner of "Gerald's Winters and Son" book store, which was among the many businesses that lost items from the water break.

He says things are looking up. "We've cleaned out the basement all of the mud has been taken out all the debris has been taken away, and it's currently being rebuilt again."

He's been closed ever since, but is hoping to reopen in about a weeks time. Customers are also helping him out in the mean time.

"People from internationally are buying things and having them shipped fed ex over just to help me out which is really nice" said Winters.

He says people are also trying to find books to help him replace the many that were lost. "Very lovely for them to do so."

Steven king himself even reached out to winters.

"I heard from Steven King's office and he offered any help that i needed when he's back up from Florida he would be able to help me out which I'm very grateful" said Winters.

So Mr. King if you're listening..."I'm hoping one day that if he ever is in Bangor he'll stop in and say hello it'll be lovely to meet him and thank him for his help."
