Well that tradition continues here in Maine.
The dance is for girls in grades kindergarten through 7th grades. They are currently taking registrations for Bangor residents only through the end of January and then open up to non residents.
Bangor Parks and Rec director Tracy Willette said "It's just an interesting event for girls to get out for an evening they like to get dressed up. Occasionally we see limousines pull up to the front door. Often the evening starts with dinner at a local restaurant it just creates a special evening all the way around."
The dance is Saturday February 4th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Cross Insurance Center. Tickets are $25 per couple and you must purchase them at the Bangor Parks and Rec.
The event sells out every year so hurry up and get tickets if you want a memory that will last forever.
