Three men arrested for robbery incident

JACKSON - Three people are being charged with a robbery in Jackson.

The 27 year old victim told police was invited to the Bog Road by a former girlfriend.


Authorities said once he was there he was approached by Joseph Balla, 25, of Auburn, Charles Haskins, 22, of Jackson and Samuel Lear, 21, of Jackson.


Police said during the confrontation one of the men displayed a knife and another displayed a handgun while demanding the victim turn over his wallet and empty his pockets. The victim told police he complied and was then repeatedly punched by the three men. He was able to leave and call law enforcement.


A witness to the assault told police the three men told him he would also be assaulted if he contacted law enforcement.


Balla, Haskins and Lear are all being charged with robbery, assault and criminal threatening.


Bail has been set at $5,000 for each of them .


All three remain in custody at the Waldo County Jail.
