That was the finding Thursday during the "31st Annual Drinking Water Taste Test" conducted by the Maine Rural Water Association.
Each year, water districts and others from around the state compete in two categories.
The Greater Augusta Utility District took home the top prize in the disinfected category.
The Town Hall Apartments in LaGrange won the non-disinfected category and has secured bragging rights for having "Maine's Best Tasting Water."
Maine Rural Water District Director Kirsten Herbert said "These folks are in the business of providing safe drinking water. Customers need us to make sure their drinking water is safe, it's clean, it's healthy water and this is just one way to capture the moment. And why not issue bragging rights in the Maine state best tasting drinking water.
The taste test was held at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor Thursday.
Senate President Mike Thibodeau and UMaine Mens Basketball Coach, Bob Walsh were among the judges who tasted 24 samples from around the state.
The winner will represent the State of Maine in the national taste test in Washington D.C. in February.
